Sacramental
Preparation (updated 8/10/2007)
Anointing of the Sick
According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Church
believes and confesses that among the seven sacraments there
is one especially intended to strengthen those who are being
tried by illness, the Anointing of the Sick. The sacrament
is not for those only who are at the point of death. Hence,
as soon as anyone of the faithful begins to be in danger of
death from sickness or old age, the fitting time for him or
her to receive this sacrament has arrived. Therefore, persons
who are seriously ill at home should contact the office to
receive this Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick or the
Eucharist. In an emergency, please phone
the parish office at any hour of the day or night. 732-828-1400

High
School and Jr. High Youth Ministry (updated
3/26/2008)
Jr. High Youth Ministry
Calling all 7th and 8th graders! St. Matthias Junior High
Youth Ministry is based on the idea that our Christian faith
should impact every aspect of our lives- it’s not just
about going to Mass on Sunday; it’s about inviting God
into our everyday lives and learning what it means to live
the Gospel and be a true follower of Jesus. It’s about
relationships, making friends, and getting to share our lives
and talents with each other. That’s why we try to foster
a fun, relaxing, and welcoming environment for your children
to develop relationships with other kids their age, with adults,
and of course, with God. St. Matthias Junior High Youth Ministry
is about building a community for junior high youth and helping
them to become a key part of the entire parish community.
As they prepare for Confirmation, students begin to understand
the importance of sharing their talents with others for the
betterment of the community through service activities. In
this way, getting involved in JHYM is a wonderful way to help
students prepare for receiving Confirmation. Come deepen your
relationship with God and others through our fun and meaningful
events! Also, be sure to check the Junior High Youth Ministry
page to be updated on what’s going on. Hope to see you
soon!

at the 5:30 PM Sunday Mass once a month. These talented
teenagers use various instruments (voice, electric guitar,
